The Leamington Flower Show
Help us uncover and share memories of a much-loved Leamington event
Do you remember the Leamington Flower Show?
The Flower Show was once a much-loved part of the town’s life — with roots going back to the 19th century, when events were held in and around Leamington’s gardens.
For this project, we’re focusing on the 1950s and 60s, when it appears to have been at its height — drawing crowds to places like Jephson Gardens, Victoria Park and the Pump Room.
We’re now starting to gather memories — from those who experienced it, or heard stories passed down through family.
About the project
We’ve started to uncover the story of the Leamington Flower Show through newspaper archives — revealing glimpses of colourful displays, busy summer days, record attendances, and later the challenges of keeping the show going.
But the real story isn’t in the archives — it’s in people’s memories.
We’re now beginning to gather those memories to see whether there’s a bigger story to tell, and whether this could grow into a wider oral history project.

What we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Remember attending the Flower Show
- Heard stories from parents, grandparents or relatives
- Have any photos, programmes, tickets or memorabilia
Even the smallest memory — a moment, a feeling, or something you were told — can help build the picture.
Why this matters
If there’s enough interest, we’d love to develop this into a wider oral history project — capturing and sharing memories so this part of Leamington’s story isn’t lost.
Your response will help us understand whether there’s a bigger story to tell.
This sits alongside our wider work exploring Leamington’s cultural history, including the Lights of Leamington: Switched on Stories project.

We’ll only use your contact details to get in touch about this project.
We won’t share them with anyone else, and you can ask us to remove your details at any time.
